Aptly is built to run almost entirely in your browser. Your resume, cover letters, job tracker, and API key are stored in localStorage on your own device — we don't have a server database of your documents, and we never see the content of your resume or cover letters.
| Tool | What it collects | Requires your consent? |
|---|---|---|
| GoatCounter | Anonymous page views and click events. No cookies, no personal identifiers, no cross-site tracking. | No — cookie-free, runs by default |
| Microsoft Clarity | Anonymized session replay and heatmaps (mouse movement, clicks, scroll). Your resume, cover letter, and job-posting text are hard-masked and never captured, regardless of dashboard settings. | Yes — only runs after you click Accept |
| Email (optional) | If you voluntarily submit your email (waitlist / save progress), we store it to contact you about Aptly. Never sold or shared. | Given by submitting the form |
On your first visit we ask whether to enable Clarity. If you reject or ignore the banner, Clarity never loads and no session data leaves your browser. You can change your mind anytime by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, which re-shows the banner.
Analytics events (GoatCounter, Clarity) are retained per each provider's standard policy. Data stored in your browser's localStorage stays until you clear it yourself — Aptly has no way to delete it remotely.
